Maria Martinez is a master's student currently working to complete her degree in Exercise and Sports Nutrition at Texas Woman's University. She is also a dietetic intern in the internship program there. She earned her bachelor's degree in the Didactic Program of Dietetics at Texas Christian University. She was raised in Dallas, TX and has been very active for most of her life. She was a ballerina for ten years and soccer player for six. Upon entering high school, she joined her high school’s varsity cross country and track teams and competed during all four years. Since then, she has completed the Cowtown Marathon and five half marathons and plans to continue running in long-distance races.

As someone heavily involved in physical activity, Maria has always been very interested in sports nutrition and became increasingly more so after having completed the sports nutrition course at Texas Christian University and shadowed several sports dietitians. She believes that proper fueling with a nutrient-dense, balanced, and properly timed diet is vital for peak performance in athletic endeavors, and she hopes to help athletes successfully achieve this.

Aside from her passion for nutrition, Maria also loves spending time with her family, attending ballets, baking healthy desserts, watching TCU football, and going to the beach.
